Mukesh Chand Mathur (22 July 1923 – 27 August 1976), better alluded to mononymously as Mukesh, was an Indian playback craftsman. Mukesh is seen as one of the most popular and acclaimed playback singers of the Hindi entertainment world. Among the different tasks and awards he won, his song "Kai Baar Yuhi Dekha Hai" from the film Rajnigandha (1973) won him the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer.

Mukesh was in like manner notable like the voice of performers Raj Kapoor, Manoj Kumar, Feroz Khan, Sunil Dutt and Dilip Kumar.

Mukesh was imagined in Delhi in a Hindu family from Uttar Pradesh. His people were Zorawar Chand Mathur, an architect, and Chandrani Mathur. He was the sixth in a gathering of ten children. The music instructor who got back home to show Mukesh's sister, Sundar Pyari, found an understudy in Mukesh, who may tune in from the circumscribing room. Mukesh left school after the 10th grade and turned out rapidly for the Department of Public Works. He investigated various roads with respect to voice accounts during his work in Delhi and little by little developed his singing limits and besides his melodic instrumental aptitudes.

Mukesh's voice was first observed by Motilal, an eliminated relative, when he sang at his sister's wedding. Motilal took him to Mumbai and coordinated singing activities by Pandit Jagannath Prasad. During this period Mukesh was extended to an employment opportunity as a performer entertainer in a Hindi film, Nirdosh (1941). His first tune was "Dil Hi Bujha Hua Ho To" as an on-screen character craftsman for Nirdosh. He got his break as a playback performer for on-screen character Motilal in 1945 with the film Pehli Nazar with music made by Anil Biswas and stanzas made by Aah Sitapuri. The essential tune that he sang for a Hindi film was "Dil Jalta Hai To Jalne De".

Mukesh was such an enthusiast of craftsman K. L. Saigal that in his underlying significant length of playback singing he used to reflect his idol.In reality, it is said that when K. L. Saigal first heard the song "Dil Jalta Hai...", he remarked, "That is peculiar, I don't audit singing that tune".

Mukesh made his own singing style with the help of music leader Naushad Ali, who urged Mukesh to emerge from his Saigal style and make his own style. Naushad gave him songs for the film Andaz. From the outset Mukesh was the phantom voice of Dilip Kumar in this film and Mohammed Rafi sang for Raj Kapoor. He passed on various Hits for Naushad in movies like: Anokhi Ada (1948), Mela (1948), Andaz (1949). Various authors who used Mukesh voice for phenomenal Dilip Kumar in hit tunes like "Jeevan Sapna honk gaya" were Anil Biswas in Anokha Pyar, Ye Mera Diwanapan hai, Shankar-Jaikishan in Yahudi and Suhana Safar and Dil Tadap ke, Salil Choudhary in Madhumati. Regardless, later Dilip Kumar pick Rafi as his spirit voice and Mukesh transformed into the ghost voice of Raj Kapoor. Mukesh recorded most critical number of tunes for Shankar Jaikishan ie 133 tunes followed by kalyanji Anandji ie 99 tunes. Out of 4 Filmfare awards, Mukesh won 3 distinctions for Shankar Jaikishan songs

In 1974, Mukesh got National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the tune "Kai Baar Yuhi Dekha Hai" from Rajnigandha (1974), and Filmfare Awards for the tunes "Sab Kuch Seekha Humne" in the film Anari (1959), "Sabse Bada Naadan Wahi Hai" in Pehchaan (1970), "Jai Bolo Beimaan Ki" in Beimaan (1972) (all the three tunes made by Shankar Jaikishan) and "Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein", the title tune of film Kabhie (1976) (framed by Khayyam). A total of around 1,300 tunes were sung by him. This number isn't actually those sung by a part of his partners, yet the reality of the situation is that Mukesh emphasizd on quality rather than sum. The comparably less tunes sung by him during the 1970s can be credited to his besieging prosperity due to his exacerbating heart issue.

Mukesh sang various tunes for Kalyanji Anandji music boss pair. Mukesh sang more tunes with the K-A couple after Shankar Jaikishan. From "Naina hai jadoo bhare..." Bedard Zamana Kya Jane (1958) made by Kalyanji alone as Kalyanji Virji Shah, and "Crucial hoon shaft madari..." Madari (1959) as the principal Kalyanji-Anandji-Mukesh combo, to "Chahe aaj mujhe napasand karo" Darinda/1977, the K-A, Mukesh blend gave different notable tunes like "Chhalia mera naam...", "Minor toote tone dil se...", "dum diga" Chalia (1959), "Mujhko iss raat ki tanhai mein..." Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere (1960), "Mumble chhod chale hain mehfil ko..." (Ji Chahta Hai), "Humne tumko pyar kiya hai jitna..." (Dulha Dulhan), "Chal immaterial dil lehraake chal..." Ishara and "Dheere se chalo..." Johar Mehmood in Goa,"Main to ek khwab hoon..." and "Chand si mehbooba ho..." Himalay Ki Godmein(1965), "Waqt kartaa jo wafaa..." Dil Ne Pukara,"Deewanon se yeh tangle poocho..." Upkar, "Khush raho har khushi hai..." Suhaag Raat and "Humsafar stomach muscle yeh safar kat jaayega..." Juari, "Chandi ki deewaar..." and "Le chal le chal straightforward jeevan saathi..." Vishwas (1969), "Koi punch tumhara hriday tod de..." Purab Aur Paschim, "Darpan ko dekha..." Upaasna, "Jo tumko ho pasand..." Safar and "Mujhe nahin poochni tumse beeti baatein..." Anjaan Raahein (1970).

Out of the different songs he gave his voice to, "Kahin gateway jab upheaval dhal Jaaye" from Anand(1971),"Ek Pyaar ka Nagma hai" from Shor (1972), "Maine Tere Liye Hi Saat Rang Ke" from Anand (1972), "Sab Kuch Seekha Humne" from Anari (1959), "Jeena yahan marna yahan" and "Kehta hai Joker" from Mera Naam Joker (1971) are the most notable among his fans and aficionados.

Mukesh was a generally cherished of prominent Indian turn bowler Bhagwath Chandrasekhar. Right when the sound of a Mukesh tune coasted to the pitch, Chandrasekhar's insistence of the accolade would bring a roar from the gathering. Sunil Gavaskar formed that incidentally he mumbled a Mukesh tune on the field to animate Chandra. Chandra's eagerness impacted accomplices Kirmani, Gundappa Viswanath, and even a couple of reporters.

Mukesh married Sarla Trivedi Raichand, young lady of Raichand Trivedi. Sarla's father was a tycoon. With no proper house, a conflicting compensation and what was then thought to be in India a to the extent anybody knows "degenerate" calling (entertainer in movies), the consent of Sarla's father for this marriage couldn't be gotten and Mukesh and Sarla needed to take away. They got hitched in an asylum in Kandivali on 22 July 1946, Mukesh's 23rd birthday, with the help of the performer Motilal and from the home of R. D. Mathur. Everyone made basic gauges of down and out days and division, yet both persevered through the thin days and lauded their 30th wedding recognition on 22 July 1976, four days before his trip for the USA. The couple had five youths – Rita, the performer Nitin, Nalini (d. 1978), Mohnish and Namrata (Amrita). The performer Neil Nitin Mukesh is a grandson of Mukesh (offspring of Nitin).

Mukesh kicked the basin of a coronary scene on 27 August 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, where he had gone to act in a show. Toward the beginning of that day, he rose early and went to tidy up. He came out short of breath and crying of chest tortures. He was dashed to a center yet was verbalized dead. The rest of the show was done by Lata Mangeshkar and his kid Nitin Mukesh. His body was headed out to India by Mangeshkar, where a dynamite remembrance administration work was held inside seeing a couple on-screen characters, with characters of the Indian entertainment world and fans offering recognition. Exactly when refreshes on his passing showed up at Raj Kapoor, he burst into tears, and remarked, "I have lost my voice,"[citation needed] which is an assertion to the relationship of Mukesh's voice (in playback) to the greatly notable tunes of Raj Kapoor's motion pictures. A notable tune of the 1950s featured on Bharat Bhushan Aa laut ke aa ja minor meet is another instance of his past melodies, as is Dil tadap tadapke keh raha hai, picturised on Dilip Kumar.

After Mukesh's passing, his more exceptional, so far unreleased, tunes were released in 1977 in films, for instance, Dharam Veer, Amar Akbar Anthony, Khel khiladi ka, Darinda and Chandi sona. The year 1978 moreover remembered a broad number of Mukesh's songs for motion pictures, for instance, Aahuti, Paramatma, Tumhari kasam and Satyam Shivam Sundaram, where Mukesh sang his last film tune Chanchal sheetal nirmal komal for Raj Kapoor's more energetic kin, Shashi Kapoor. From 1980 forward, Mukesh's voice was heard in various later released films, for instance, Shaitan mujarim, Premika, Patthar se Takkar (1980), Sanjh ki Bela, Maila Anchal (1981), Aarohi (1982), Chor Mandali (1983), Nirlaj (1985), Love and God (1986), Shubh Chintak (1989), and his last known appearance of Chand Grahan (1997).
